Dear Prospective Project Whitewater Russia/USA Team Member:
Beginning in 1999, a monumental, historic effort will be undertaken. We believe we have assembled the team that can accomplish a series of tremendous feats and firsts! This should be documented as we bring a truly skilled team into rarely traveled and unexplored areas of the world. How would you like to participate and bring back photos and video of spectacular country, awesome canyons, and inspiring whitewater? Words could only try to describe what we will be viewing.... How would your organization like to participate in and share an Xtreme Dream with the X-Stream Team of whitewater rafting and help make possible a unique and exciting series of international river expeditions? Beginning this year a team of Class V and World Class boaters, including former Olympians, will begin the very difficult task of exploring rivers in an unknown land, the former Soviet Republics. A multi-national team has been assembled to attempt the First American Descents of rivers in Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The team has been preparing and training for 4 years and will attempt to run rivers in some of the most remote, isolated, and sparsely populated regions of the world. Additionally, the team plans to attempt First Descents of some of the normally inaccessible side canyons which can be found on the selected rivers. The River Kitoy and Khara-Murin in Southern Siberia, The Kekemeran, Sandalash and Chatkal in the Tien Shan region are some of the most incredible and difficult Central Asian rivers which will be charted by Americans for the first time. This amazing endeavor will be an expensive and costly expedition series to stage, execute, and complete successfully, therefore, Project Whitewater Russia/USA is actively seeking grants and sponsorships. This unique "water-breaking" effort should have your organization’s participation, either directly or indirectly through our team! We sincerely hope that your organization will participate in one way or another! Does your organization want to have very visible involvement in an international goodwill effort, then this is it. If your organization is represented in the USA and Europe or the former Soviet Republics, then this is the type of multi-national project to support. If your organization wants to be associated with health and safety consciousness, X-Stream sports, the outdoors, the "spirit of adventure", the extreme of whitewater action, then this is the group of world class boaters, adventurers, and explorers worth supporting in their historic, non-profit, and unique endeavor. This is the project to be involved in if you would like your organization to be associated with outdoor exploration, the First American Descents, and international teamwork and cooperation. We hope you will seriously consider us and commit to join us today! Project Whitewater Russia/USA is seeking media participants who can at a minimum, provide for the cost of their participation. This cost may be subsidized depending on the success of our fund-raising and sponsorship effort. Non-media participants will be contributing much of their own funds, time, and energy. Each team member has committed to supporting media participants whom we would certainly love to have join us and document this incredible adventure! We realize that media participants may not be skilled boaters, but we can surround them with some of the best boaters in the world to enable media participants to experience and share this pioneering journey. This is a great way to participate and generate great public interest and positive publicity in what will be a well-documented expedition series with awesome and colorful photos, video, and in breathtaking scenery which few people on earth have ever previously had the opportunity to view. Media participants will have the first opportunity to view and use some truly spectacular photos as the team explores unknown country, documents it, and touches peoples from 3000 year old cultures who may see their very first Westerners and Americans. And all media participants, of course will be included in our website which you may view now at "http://www.raft.org". Media participants may join us for one or more, or all planned trips, or may participate in logistical support as they desire. The projects' fully budgeted cost is $145,000 and we are a long way from making our goal currently. Please, won’t you join us! Media participation will also help us in our ability to procure sponsors. We're readily available to answer any questions and provide additional supporting materials. This is a fantastic opportunity to team up with the X-Stream Dream Team of whitewater rafting. Media participants are also strongly encouraged to join us on any of our western states training trips where you have the opportunity to meet team members, try out the latest rafting equipment and even Russian paddle cats, and journey with us on the most challenging rivers here in North America... These local trips would be great photo and story opportunities as well. The local trips are designed to allow media participants to share a great time on a more convenient X-Stream river adventure without the rigor, expense, and difficulty of the more remote international trips! Even if you cannot join us on the international expeditions, we do invite you to join us on exciting and extreme Class FIVE(V) river training trips throughout North America over the next several years. We will be doing the rarely done and travelling into spectacular country in our own backyard. The logistics will be much easier and trips are much shorter, even a day trip is possible. Won't you join us as we do boat year round! You can join us anytime! Sincerely,
